"Golfer on stilts takes swing at fundraiser

By Kathy McCormick/Calgary Herald

The game of golf can be discouraging - and a certain fellow by the name of Darcy McGregor really knows how to rub it in.

The Home-Alyze (inspection) specialist has made his mark at the annual Calgary Real Estate Board's Charitable Foundation tournament every year with his costume.

It includes the olbigitory tartans of his heritage, but also stilts and a long, long golf club.

Not only can he whack that ball a kilometre from on high, he challenges everyone to try to beat him.

He hit the ball so well that he raised $1070 for the two charities the foundation is supporting.

The first is Crestwood, a $13.2 million affordable housing project that has just started construction in Ogden at a time when the need has never been greater.

The foundation has pledged $1.5 million to the project and half the proceeds from the annual golf tournament went to that cause.

The other half of the money raised, which had not been finalized at press time, went to the Calgary Police Service Victims Assistance Unit.
